IS ALLAH THE BEST OF DECEIVERS?

.
IS ALLAH THE BEST OF DECEIVERS?

“Then they plotted (against Jesus), and Allah also devised, and Allah is the best of devisers.”(3:54)

The historical background for the verse is that the Jews schemed, against Jesus, by assigning someone to assassinate him; and Allah schemed, by casting the likeness of Jesus onto the person who intended to kill him, and so they killed him, while Jesus was raised up into Heaven; and Allah is the best of schemers, most knowledgeable of him (Jesus).

Islamphobes have an issue with the words used for both the Jews and Allah. They prefer to translate the verse literally in this way,

“And [they] deceived and Allah deceived and Allah is the best of deceivers”

Here, we discuss the true meanings of the word ‘makr’ and unveil the lie of these shameless Islamophobes.

According to Muslim lexicographers, the word ‘makr’ is used to denote a plan and strategy and has two connotations, plotting or planning evil intent and planning for a good purpose.1 It is clear that this anti-Islamic group falsify the definitions of words and concepts from the Qur’an to present a biased and inaccurate depiction of Islam in order to create an environment where people simultaneously frown upon and are angry and fearful of Islam and Muslims.

It becomes evident from the above testimonies that the Arabic word ‘makr’ means a plan and strategy which may be good or evil. This is clarified beyond all doubt from its following Qur’anic usage,

“Acting arrogantly in the land and devising evil schemes; and evil schemes beset only their authors. So do they await anything except the precedent of the ancients? Yet you will never find any change in Allah’s precedent, and you will never find any revision in Allah’s precedent.” (35:43)

Here Qur’an says ‘‘makr al-sayyi’ which means ‘evil plan’. And it is the word ‘al-say’ which means ‘evil’. Now the point to note is that if the word ‘makr’ by itself has the connotation of evil in it then why Allah used the word ‘evil’ with it separately? Those who know even the modicum of linguistics understand well that this example is a categorical proof that ‘makr’ intrinsically does not give the nuance of evil.
